Nourished Mama

Surrounding you with support as you begin your lives together.

Postpartum Doula

Meet Serena

Hello! I’m Serena and I’m so glad to be here. I’m excited to be launching my new venture and to have the opportunity to join you on this very special journey as you welcome a new being into your family.

Many many moons ago, I gave birth to three beautiful children. My own birthing experiences were beautiful each in their own way. I feel very fortunate to have had those experiences and it is my deepest hope that everyone who cares for a new baby feels nurtured. You deserve to have the best possible start to your new life as a parent, whatever that means to you. As a postpartum doula, I am here to surround you with the warmth and encouragement you need at this special time so you and your baby can have a beautiful experience together. This is the essence of Nourished Mama.

I am a certifying doula, completing my Postpartum Doula training at Doula School Canada. I am offering my postpartum doula services at a reasonable rate as I gain experience supporting you and your family. I am also a trained Montessori Teacher making a life transition of my own. I can offer developmentally appropriate sibling support to your children as they navigate this new transition in their lives. My training in Lactation for Birth Workers allows me to guide you through the uncertainties of nursing a new baby, whether you choose to bottle feed or breastfeed.

It is a huge journey and a beautiful one. I am the rock you can lean on — for physical, emotional and practical support. It takes a village, and I’d love to be part of yours.

Postpartum Support

What is a doula?

I'm so glad you asked! A doula is a non-medically trained professional who supports, educates, advocates, coaches, and nurtures moms throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. There are many different types of doula support.

Postpartum doulas focus on assisting new families with the transition to parenthood, infant care, feeding information, recovery, practical, and emotional support and education.

Doulas are there to listen, encourage, and provide information and guidance. I am here to support you in the way that you need it most. Each person's needs are unique to them.

But what do you actually DO?

That's a great question! And the answer depends on you.

My job is to support you and your family at a time in your life when you need it the most.

Together we'll figure out what you need and how I can support you with that.

Here is a list of some of the things I can do, but by no means is it an exhaustive one:

  • laundry

  • light cooking

  • food prep

  • picking up groceries

  • washing dishes

  • sweeping

  • tidying

  • help with breastfeeding

  • help navigating family & friend support

  • emotional support

  • sibling care

  • guidance around baby care

  • baby care (so you can nap/read/shower/remember what it's like to have your body to yourself for more than 5 minutes... or whatever would help you feel restored)
